Our Story

The Neighborhood Pub in the city of South Gate since 2015.

Hops and Barley Alehouse came to be as a result of a marketing campaign that took place at our sister location- The Downey Brewing Company. That campaign revealed that a large percentage of our regular customers in our Downey location resided in the city of South Gate.
This convinced us to search for a location within South Gate and establish our second location. We settled on the name Hops and Barley Alehouse as a starting point for future locations.

Hops and Barley are two of the three main ingredients to produce beer, the other is water. We are beer focused and are proud to offer a very wide selection of beer styles from local breweries, national breweries, and foreign breweries.

Not only are we an Alehouse (House of Beers) but we also focus primarily on live sports feeds. Our restaurant is currently equipped with two mega screens for your viewing enjoyment. Our indoor mega screen is over 10 feet across while our outdoor mega screen is over 12 feet across. Besides these large LED Screens, we also have plenty of LCDs throughout our entire indoor area.

Welcome to Hops & Barley Alehouse.
Our doors opened in 2015 in the location occupied by a Sizzler restaurant. After some modifications, upgrades, and the install of a counter bar with a custom draft beer tower, we welcomed residents of South Gate and neighboring cities.

Fun Fact… Our Custom Draft Beer Tower has 66 Faucets from which amazing beers are always served. The exact number of 66 Faucets was selected as an homage to the Historic Route 66 which crosses Los Angeles.
